Back in the day, artists would have to hand draw objects and make them move frame by frame which was hard work.Then they would have to line them up correctly so the pictures drawn made a cartoon.  Todays animation is all computerized and takes seconds to make a cartoon drawing and makes the drawings per frame easier to move because it moves around the screen and you can control it easier.
